Alanna is a singer/songwriter from Cape Town. Born in Ireland and raised in South Africa, she performs mostly acoustic alternative pop, with elements of folk. Her music is lyrically and vocally focused, however, she accompanies herself with gentle guitar.
At a young age she was exposed to artists such as Paul Simon, The Beatles and Bob Marley. The music she is influenced by today includes those and many others such as Alanis Morisette, Joni Mitchell and Tracy Chapman.
At 19 years old, she has been writing music since the age of 15 and has been playing for much longer. Her lyrics and performances are both personal and emotive, taking the listener upon an emotional journey.
Her songs are all connected, in an almost storyteller manner, and mainly revolve around the different elements of one’s relationship with oneself and others.
She has begun playing with the band “The Guy Is Alive” and has since performed with them at venues such as The Obviously Armchair and The Quay 4 Battle of the bands.
